

The Legally Blonde prequel series Elle casts Tom Everett Scott (The Summer I Turned Pretty, One True Loves) as Elle’s father Wyatt in the upcoming Prime Video original.. The Hollywood Reporter shared the news earlier today in an article. The series was originally greenlit in May 2024 and since then has released several press release updates.
The series is based on the famous Legally Blonde movies starring Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies, The Morning Show). Legally Blonde follows a recently single Elle Woods who stops at nothing to win her ex-boyfriend back.Elle enrolls in Harvard Law School and finds a new passion, leading her to eventually move on from her ex. The series is set as a prequel following Elle Woods in high school. Fans will learn who Elle was before law school and how she grew up.The Hollywood Reporter shared the logline of the series in the same article which can be read here: “Elle follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.”
Prime Video has yet to release many casting updates but so far they shared with fans Lexi Minetree (My Amish Double Life, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) is set to play Elle in the series. Following Scott as a parent of Elle June Diane Raphael, (American Dad!, How Did This Get Made?) will star as Elle’s mom. However, those in the executive producer chair are well known by fans. Witherspoon and her colleagueLauren Neustadte (Legally Blonde 3, Where The Crawdads Sing) will serve as executive producers with their production company Hello Sunshine. Laura Kitterall (High School, Insecure), and Caroline Dries (Gotham Knights, Batwoman) are set as co-showrunners. Following producer credits, Marc Platt (Wicked, Dear Evan Hansen) is set to produce.
The series is set to start filming this month. As fans anxiously await updates for the series, they can catch Scott in another fan favorite Prime Video original The Summer I Turned Pretty.
