Netflix’s upcoming live-action Assassin’s Creed series has officially added Toby Wallace as a series regular, according to Deadline. Wallace, who recently appeared in Euphoria and Bikeriders, will take on the co-lead role in the adaptation of Ubisoft’s best-selling video game franchise. Deadline notes this marks Wallace’s return to Netflix, where he previously starred in The Society and the FX on Hulu limited series Pistol.
Deadline reports the series focuses on a secret war between two shadowy factions: one attempting to control humanity’s future and another defending free will. The story will follow original characters, separate from the video games, as they navigate pivotal historical events that shape mankind’s destiny. Wallace’s casting joins a production already anchored in the franchise’s high-stakes, time-spanning narrative, echoing adventures in Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, per Deadline.
Deadline confirms that production is slated to begin in 2026 in Italy, a country featured prominently in multiple franchise entries. Roberto Patino (DMZ, Westworld) and David Wiener (Fear the Walking Dead, Brave New World) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers, Deadline reports. They are joined by Gerard Guillemot, Ubisoft veteran behind Prince of Persia and Rabbids, and Margaret Boykin (Captain Laserhawk, Werewolves Within), also as executive producers.
Wallace brings an extensive résumé to the role, with film credits including Jeff Nichols’ Bikeriders, Ron Howard’s Eden, Charles Williams’ Inside, and Justin Lin’s Last Days, as stated by Deadline. He has received critical acclaim, winning the 2020 AACTA Best Lead Actor award and the 2019 Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Young Actor at the Venice Film Festival for Babyteeth. Wallace is represented by CAA, 3 Arts, CP Artist Management, and Sloane Offer.
Deadline emphasizes that Wallace’s casting solidifies Netflix’s commitment to building a globally ambitious, cinematic series that merges historical adventure, high-stakes action, and the iconic legacy of the Assassin’s Creed video games.
