After landing a role in MGM+’s Westies and continuing appearances as Harry Bosch in Prime Video’s upcoming Ballard, Titus Welliver revealed he’s been added to another series. TV Line reports Welliver shared a glimpse of a character set to appear in the fourth season of AMC’s Dark Winds. In a photo posted to his X account, Welliver is shown getting prepped on set.

From his apparent caption and image, it appears Welliver is playing someone on the opposite side of Lt. Joe Leaphorn’s law in the noir crime series. Welliver joins the previously announced Isabel DeRoy-Olson (Fancy Dance, Under the Bridge), Luke Barnett (The Crossing Over Express, For All Mankind), and Franka Potente (Titans, Mayfair Witches). All four join main series regulars Zahn McClarnon (Castlevania: Nocturne, Reservation Dogs), Jessica Matten (Frontier, Burden of Truth), and Kiowa Gordan (Blood Quantum, The Lesser Blessed) for the series based on Tony Hillerman’s (Dance Hall of the Dead, Listening Woman) novels.
According to TV Line, Welliver will swap his LAPD badge for a long rap sheet as Dominic McNair, a career criminal responsible for moving stolen goods and illegal substances in and out of Los Angeles. Not much has been revealed about how he’ll cross paths with our resident tribal officers.
Wrapping its third season earlier this year, Dark Winds follows the lives and cases of three tribal police officers in 1970s New Mexico: McClarnon’s Leaphorn, Matten’s Officer Bernadette Manuelito, and Gordon’s Deputy Jim Chee. Serving on the Navajo reservation, the trio does its best to protect their community.
The third season found them investigating one child’s murder and another’s disappearance. As clues fell into place, they pieced together a larger conspiracy stretching nearly 500 miles to the Mexican border. As Joe fought to save one child, ghosts of his grief haunted him as an entity stalked the desert nights.
While the fourth season is set to premiere next year, all three seasons of Dark Winds are available to stream on AMC+.
