The upcoming third season of Titans will add several important characters from the Batman mythos, Screen Rant has confirmed. As revealed during the show’s panel at DC Fandome this weekend, anti-hero Red Hood, villain Scarecrow, and heroine Barbra Gordon will all join the third season.
Red Hood has already been in the show from a certain point of view. As described by Screen Rant, Red Hood’s alter-ego Jason Todd (played by Curran Walters, Girl Meets World) has been part of the show since season 1 as Dick Grayson’s (Brenton Thwaites, Maleficent) sidekick Robin. While initially a member of the Teen Titans, Jason Todd’s overly violent ways of fighting drove a wedge between him and his mentor, eventually resulting in Jason leaving at the end of season 2. In season 3, this schism will grow into an all-out-war between Jason and his former allies. Executive producer Greg Walker (Without a Trace) described Red Hood in season 3 to Screen Rant: “Jason Todd now dons a new identity in his obsession to take down his old team.”
Much of season 3 will center around the Teen Titans going to Gotham City, home to Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Batman. This is how these new Batman-related characters will be introduced. Scarecrow, nor his alter-ego Jonathan Crane, has not had his formal first appearance in the show yet. In season 3, he will first be seen in Arkham Asylum, acting as a consultant for – and secretly manipulating – the Gotham Police Department. Most notably, he will be up against the Gotham PD Commissioner Barbra Gordon, taking over the role from her father Gordon.
Titains will be joining a slew of other titles by becoming an HBO Max Original when season 3 premieres in 2021.
