According to ScreenRant, Tim Allen (Home Improvement) recently addressed the possibility of a third season for The Santa Clauses. Season two further explores who will replace Scott Calvin as Santa Claus if he ends up retiring. Allen spoke with Comicbook over the potential of a third season as well as what he hopes will be the focus of the season.
Allen said, “I’m a sci-fi guy and I love stories. The fact that we haven’t really figured out Cal’s potential yet, and we’re seeing a lot of potential for Sandra that all of a sudden opened up. Even me as I go, ‘Wow, this could go somewhere.’ She’s a human and she has abilities way past what witches are used to. So we don’t know where this could go. And all of a sudden me, as a sci-fi guy, thinking this could be a whole other world.”
The Santa Clauses follows the story of Scott Calvin who has reached the age of 65 and is now realizing that he can’t be Santa much longer and seeks out a worthy replacement. While he searches for a replacement he also has to prepare his family for a complete life change. The series is based on a film franchise centered around Calvin who took over as Santa Claus after he accidentally killed the man who was Santa. The films include Santa Claus, Santa Claus 2, and Santa Claus 3: The Escape Clause.
The series cast includes Allen as Scott Calvin, Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost) as Carol Calvin, Austin Kane (Godless) as Cal, Elizabeth Allen-Dick (Entertainment Tonight) as Sandra, Kal Penn (Smile) as Simon Choksi, Gabriel Iglesias (The Book of Life) as Kris Kringle, Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) as Magnus Antas, and many others.
