Tig Notaro Confirms She Will Be Returning for Season 4 On CBS’ ‘Star Trek: Discovery’

Recently, Tig Notaro (Sharon, Instant Family) revealed that she will be stepping back into the role of Commander Jett Reno in season four  of Star Trek: Discovery season four, according to Comicbook. Reno is an engineer with a sly and cynical attitude, she was introduced into the show when she was rescued in season two and, subsequently, she joined Discovery.

Notaro commented on COVID-19 being a big reason why she won’t feature as prominently, she still looks forward to upcoming work opportunities for the show that could present themselves in May. On the Fitzdog Podcast she explained more about her involvement, “Well I’m just a recurring character on Star Trek and it’s in Toronto and I didn’t feel safe flying, so I forfeited some work there. But the other chunk of work is supposed to be in May and so hopefully things will be in better shape with the pandemic in May,” Notaro stated according to Comicbook.

Star Trek: Discovery was recently renewed for fourth season and started production back in early November. Discovery initially takes place about ten years before the original Star Trek show that premiered in the 1960’s, but due to a wormhole the team discovers they eventually travel about 900 years into the future. The show revolves around the Discovery team as they investigate and explore new worlds, species, technologies, etc.

The reason so many fans want to see Notaro return is because Jett reno adds some levity to the show when things are going haywire or they are under attack. Most fans like Reno’s sarcastic humor and commentary. Even if conditions for COVID-19 don’t alleviate, Notaro stated she may drive back to Tornto in order to film for the fourth season. “And if not, I’ll just drive out there probably,” Notaro stated as reported by Comicbook. So fans of Jett Reno should rest easy knowing how much Notaro values her role and the lengths she’s willing to go to bring her character back for this upcoming season.
