‘The Walking Dead’ Midseason Finale Ratings: Strong, but Not Record-Breaking

AMC”s drama had a number of 12.1 million total viewers for the midseason finale.

The last episode of 2013 of The Walking Dead featured the battle between Rick’s group and Governor’s people. Season four ended the first half of the season with big numbers on Sunday, but didn’t reach the ratings of the season premiere (16.1 million viewers).

According to The Wrap, the finale of the third season had slightly bigger ratings than this midseason finale, having 12.4 million total viewers.

Charlie Collier, the AMC president said that, “We couldn’t be happier that audiences are continuing to respond in ever-larger numbers to the outstanding work of this amazingly talented team.” He also added that, “We’re only at the mid-point of this fourth season, but I know I speak for the entire cast and crew in Atlanta when I say thank you to the fans for joining in our passion for these characters and their journey.”

Meanwhile, on social media, The Walking Dead was the top TV-related topic on Twitter generating 880,450 tweets. The Walking Dead aftershow, Talking Dead, scored a series high with Sunday’s episode, amassing 6 million total viewers, with 3.8 million of them in the demo, mentioned the AMC president.

The Walking Dead will return with more episode on February 9, 2014.
