The Voice is returning to its original roots with Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera

The Voice is set to bring back its original line-up of judges for the upcoming season which will air in the Fall of 2013. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will reunite once again with Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green bumping Shakira and Usher off for the fifth cycle, although Billboard reported that the two judges will be back for the sixth cycle.

Paul Telegdy, the president of late night programming at NBC stated, “[The original judges] are the reason this show was launched so strong for the first three cycles, and we owe them a debt of gratitude. And after careful consideration of everyone’s schedules for next Spring, we are excited to be returning to the current cycle of judges—Shakira and Usher along with Blake and Adam—for cycle six, which will premiere after the Winter Olympics.”

Producer Mark Burnett states, “The coaching panel of Christina, CeeLo, Adam and Blake was at the heart of this show in its first three seasons and we are so lucky to have found equal success with Shakira and Usher in season four.”

While this popular competition show did not suffer from the lack of the two original judges like American Idol has from their various panel change-ups, the minds behind the Voice suggest that adding Green and Aguilera will “help maintain both variety and continuity next season,” reports Entertainment Weekly. The coaches have all seen various rewards from being on the panel for the Voice. Levine has landed various gigs on shows like American Horror Story: Asylum and even an upcoming movie while Green has locked a deal with TBS for a new six-episode reality series under the working title, the Cee Lo Life. Green’s series with TBS is set to premiere in 2014.

The Voice will wrap up its fourth season on June 18.
