Marvel’s animated apocalypse series is far from being done and further information has surfaced. Reported by Screenrant, Marvel Zombies is officially clawing its way back from the grave with a second season, promising more chaos and twisted versions of iconic heroes of the franchise. The finale of the previous season sees a zombified Scarlet Witch, voiced by Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision, Godzilla), who had become the Queen of Death, confront the remaining survivors and strike a deal with Kamala, voiced by Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel, The Marvels), to cure everyone, only for it to be revealed as an illusion.”
According to Screenrant, the series shworunner, Brad Winderbaum (Werewolf by Night, Thor: Ragnarok) spoke on The Escape Pod podcast about the new season confirmation,”I don’t think it’s a spoiler, but I saw the first animatic of the first episode of Marvel Zombies season 2 this morning. It was crazy, I can’t say anything about it, but it delivers not just on like zombies, but also on like an MCU thing that has never really happened before that we’re very excited to do.”
Marvel’s Zombie was heavily based on the fifth episode of Marvel’s What If… Zombies?! which received a lackluster score of six out of ten, in which ScreenRant’s Lewis Glazebrook gave his honest opinion and critiqued the series,” The action in Marvel Zombies is a highlight, allowing so many MCU heroes to use their powers in ways the mainline franchise has not showcased.” It is uncertain how many superheroes remain, but they will undoubtedly take up the duty of defending the planet.
The stake of the second season has been raised to another level, with the remaining heroes still trying to cure the catastrophic wasteland and bring normality back to New York. While waiting on the new season to make its grand debut which is rumored to contain 11 episodes, the entire first season of Marvel’s Zombies is available to stream on Disney+.
