In 2019, the SyFy channel welcomes audiences to King Dominion High as class is officially in session for The Russo Brothers badass new series Deadly Class. The show from the directors of the box office juggernaut Avengers: Infinity War switch gears from superhero mega mashup to Hogwarts for assassin in this dark action packed live action adaptation of the hit graphic novel series.
Last year the Russo Brothers were throwing Infinity Stones at everyone preparing fans for the war to come. This year they brought something much different to Comic-Con in the form of a brand new trailer based on the Image Comics graphic novel created by Rick Remender alongside illustrators Wes Craig and Miles Orion Feldsott.
This trailer gives fans the first glimpse of a story that follows students enrolled at a secret high school in San Francisco, as they train to become the next generation of top assassins for crime families across the globe. This horror-action comic takes place in an alternate 1987 setting and will follow a disillusioned teen as he is recruited into the storied academy for assassins.
Half of the Infinity War dynamic duo, Joe Russo told fans at SDCC, “We’ve been huge fans of the book and huge fans of Rick Remender and we’ve put a lot of time and thought and energy and passion into bringing that book to the screen as authentically as possible. “Deadly Class creator Rick Remender also promised the crowd at Comic-Con that the series wouldn’t be making any “drastic changes” from the book stating, “Ultimately, the spine of it is the book, and that’s what we’re making.”
It was announced back in April that SyFy had picked up the series and in May the first teaser featurette was unleashed raising anticipation to an all time high for the live action adaptation. The drama is described as “a coming of age journey” full of ancient mystery and teen angst.
The Russo Brothers will executive produces and serve as the series showrunners along with Remender and Feldsott. Deadly Class stars Benedict Wong, Benjamin Wadsworth, Lana Condor, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Luke Tennie, Liam James, and Michel Duval.
Deadly Class premieres on SyFy in 2019.
