The highly anticipated second season of Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is confirmed to arrive this year. According to Screenrant,the fantasy series is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s(Fellowship of the Ring) Lord of the Rings novel, which shows the records of the second age of Middle-earth. Despite the mixed reviews it received, the series became the most-watched Prime Video original series. Season two was officially ordered back in November 2019.
According to Screenrant, Hollyywood Reporter has announced the second season is scheduled to premiere later this year, and the information was confirmed by the series showrunners, Patrick McKay (Flash Gordon) and J.D. Payne (Uprising). Mckay and Payne began season three and signed a three-month deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
In 2022, McKay, according to Screenrant, said that production on Rings of Power season two may take “another couple years.” However, the show caught a lucky break with filming finishing up in 2023, which was right before the SAG-AFTRA strike started.
The second season is sure to see Sauron’s evolution as he takes on his true form, as well as the forging of the master ring. This series will star Robert Aramayo (The Empty Man) as Elrond, Charlie Vickers (Death in Shoreditch) as Sauron, Morfydd Clarke (Murder is Easy) as Galadriel, and other familiar faces returning are a young Isuldur, played byMaxim Baldry(Mr Bean’s Holiday) and Arondir played by Ismael Cruz Córdova(In the Blood). We will see of how the alliance between the races will be forge in order to combat the dark forces.
