The Punisher Belittle’s Daredevil in the 2nd Season’s Official Trailer for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’

The success of Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix paved the way for the very popular Jessica Jones series on the streaming service. In addition to the Daredevil and Jessica Jones series, Luke Cage is currently in production which will follow with the eventual production of Iron Fist. These four heroes (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist) will ultimately unite and form The Defenders.

The first season of Daredevil did what many shows tend to do which is dive into the background of the main characters and revealing why certain characters are they the way are. For example, season one immediately kicked off by showing Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) father rushing into the scene of the accident which resulted in Murdock’s blindness/superhuman abilities. Viewers also got to see the motives behind why Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) sought to become the kingpin of Hell’s Kitchen. There’s one scene in particular that stood out during the first season which showed Fisk as a child murdering his abusive father with a hammer in front of his mother.

As many are aware, the upcoming season of Daredevil will be introducing two new characters who are well known in the Daredevil comic book series. There’s Elektra who will be portrayed by Elodie Yung and also Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Fury) as The Punisher.

According to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Doug Petrie stated that “the advantage of any sequel is you can dive right in,” Petrie went on to say that “we hit the ground running and then we ran as fast as we f—ing could.”

Petrie and Daredevil’s other showrunner Marco Ramirez also assured fans that the second season of the series will continue to maintain all the action and drama similar to the first season but in a much faster pace.

Watch the newest trailer for Daredevil’s second season below:

The trailer shows the recent effects The Punisher’s presence has on Hell’s Kitchen. We hear an FBI agent telling Murdock “He’s tracking gangs to their home turf, and taking them out with military precision.”

Additionally, there’s a brief argument between The Punisher and Daredevil where we see The Punisher telling Murdock “You hit them and they get back up, I hit them and they stay down!” He goes on to call Murdock a “half-measure” and “a man who can’t finish the job.” So pretty much The Punisher doesn’t live by a code of honor, any foe he faces, he makes it a goal to kill that bad guy vs Daredevil who does the opposite and spares their lives (with a broken bone or three).

The second season of Daredevil will premiere on March 18th.

On February 25th, another trailer will be released prior to the return of Daredevil. Stay tuned!
