According to ScreenRant, Ralph Farquhar (Moesha) the executive producer for Disney+’s The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder teased plans for a possible live-action adaptation of the series. The series is a continuation of Disney Channel’s original The Proud Family which aired between 2001-2005 and concluded with a movie until it was revived in 2022. Recently in an interview with CinemaBlend, Farquhar stated that both he and creator Bruce W. Smith (Space Jam) pitched the continuation of the series as well as a live-action adaptation.
Farquhar commented, “Well, to be perfectly honest, when we first went off the air, we felt like, ‘Why are we off?’ So Bruce and I were pitching every year since 2005, up until we got picked up for Louder and Prouder, and we pitched live-action, we pitched live-action and animation, we pitched a whole bunch of things. So Proud Family could, I think, obviously really work as a live-action show. But one thing I was personally always enamored with was the whole notion of having live-action characters that did squash and stretch, you know?”
The cast of the series includes Kyla Pratt (One on One), Tommy Davidson(In Living Color), Karen Malina White (Malcolm & Eddie), Paula Jai Parker (Friday), Cedric the Entertainer (The Neighborhood), Jo Marie Payton (Family Matters), Bresha Webb (Run The World), Keke Palmer (Nope), and many more.
Due to the recent success of the revival of the series, there will most likely be a potential interest to do a live-action adaptation, according to ScreenRant. Although the animation has changed and some aspects of the original series are different, both critics and fans have given the revived series positive reactions. A live-action adaptation would not only be interesting but very doable as the series portrays real settings with real people as well as celebrity cameos.
The Proud Family: Prouder and Louder is currently streaming on Disney+.
