‘The Mandalorian’s’ Gina Carano Under Fire for Controversial Tweets

Gina Carano, who plays the brave and bold Cara Dune on Disney+’s The Mandalorian, took to Twitter a few weeks ago to voice a few political opinions that received mixed responses to say the least. According to Indiewire “The #FireGinaCarano hashtag began picking up steam last week, but has continued to build momentum after Disney+ dropped the “Chapter 12” episode of “The Mandalorian” on Friday, in which Carano stars. But at the same time, #StandWithGinaCarano has also begun trending on Twitter.”

With the backlash Carano received for her posts, she decided to move to another social media site built for a right winged audience. Parler.com is a social media platform used primarily by right winged conservatives. On their first page Parler.com states “Speak freely and express yourself openly, without fear of being “deplatformed” for your views.”

The #FireGinaCarano movement features people voicing their complaints on the actress over professionalism. Specifically, a twitter user named Justin posted a tweet about Gina using quotes around the word pandemic trying to make Covid-19 seem like it’s threat has been inflated by the media.

This is just one example of the disgruntled fan base of The Mandalorian with several other voices filling the void.

Carano’s supporters claim that social media is trying to bring her down just for voicing her opinion and lay blame on “cancel culture.”

Disney has yet to make a comment on the response to #FireGinaCarano.
