Last week’s episode of ‘The Mandalorian’ ,”Chapter 11″, featured a cameo of one of the most important characters Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced, the leader of the Nite Owls Bo Katan voiced by Katee Sackhoff (Dahl, Riddick). Bo Katan played a pivotal role of retaking Mandalore with her new ally Ahsoka Tano in the last season of the animated series. Before the fall of the Jedi during execute order 66, Bo Katan and Ahsoka Tano were tasked with retaking Mandalore and apprehending the powerful Sith Lord Darth Maul. Once Ahsoka captured Maul, both Tano and Katan bid each other farewell and that was the last time fans saw Katan until last week’s episode of The Mandalorian.
Having voiced Bo Katan before both in Star Wars The: Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, Sackhoff was more than delighted to play the live action role of Katan. “My dad raised me on sci-fi and ‘Star Wars’ so this is a dream come true.” Katee said as reported by Indie Wire. Sackhoff went on to reminisce about how she got the part, “I slyly mentioned it to Dave Filoni and he was like, ‘Well, you never know’ in his cheeky little way. When I got phone call to sit down with Jon Favreau, my brain exploded,” Sackhoff stated as reported by Indie Wire.
Bo also played an important role in the show Star Wars: Rebels, eventually acquiring the dark saber, which lends some suspicion to how she lost the saber and why it’s in the possession of Moff Gideon. When asked about this curious turn of events, she decided to keep her answer vague, “there is a story there,” Sackhoff responded according to Indie Wire. However, she would not confirm if these questions would be answered with future appearances from her character. Star Wars fans have more to look forward to as Season 2 of The Mandalorian unfolds. With a small glimpse of Boba Fett (Temeura Morrison, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones) and the name drop of Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson, Zombie Land: Double Tap). Viewers can be sure that these characters will help shape the events of The Mandalorian season two, what remains to be seen is how.
