The upcoming Prime Video series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, based on the hailed books by J. R. R. Tolkien, has dropped a second teaser trailer. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will launch on Prime Video on September 2nd, 2022.
Prime Video representatives provided insight into the details in the teaser trailer. As they stated in the Prime Video press release, “the teaser trailer also highlights some of the realms viewers will visit throughout the eight-part series, including the Elven realms of Lindon and Eregion, the Dwarven realm Khazad-dûm, the Southlands, the Northernmost Wastes, the Sundering Seas, and the island kingdom of Númenór.”
The trailer also features previously announced cast members in critical roles, such as Isildur played by Years and Years’ Maxim Baldry, Lloyd Owen (Apollo 18) as Elendil, Trystan Gravelle (A Discovery of Witches) as Pharazôn, Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Power) as Queen Regent Míriel, Leon Wadham (The Bad Seed) as Kemen, and Ema Horvath (Don’t Look Deeper) as Eärien.
Additional featured cast members include Owain Arthur as Prince Durin IV, Robert Aramayo (Mindhunter) as Elrond, Morfydd Clark (Saint Maud) as Galadriel, Ismael Cruz Córdova (The Undoing) as Arondir, Sir Lenny Henry (Broadchurch) as Sadoc Burrows, Markella Kavenagh (Picnic at Hanging Rock) as Elanor ‘Nori’ Brandyfoot, Peter Mullan (The Underground Railroad) as Dwarves King Durin III, Megan Richards (Wanderlust) as Poppy Proudfello, Charlie Vickers (Medici) as Halbrand, Benjamin Walker (Jessica Jones) as High King Gil-galad, Daniel Weyman (Gentleman Jack) as The Stranger, and Sara Zwangobani (The Starter Wife) as Marigold Brandyfoot. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will release on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, with new episodes available weekly. The creators and first-time showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay, in addition to executive producer and director JA Bayona (Penny Dreadful), have already promised five seasons of the series, per Empire.
