According to Deadline, the show The Last of Us has begun to give first looks into the all new casting choices for season two. One of these casting choices is for the character Jesse, who will have his on screen portrayal played by Young Mazino. Mazino, who was featured on the show Beef, is an Emmy-nominated actor.
The Last of Us is a live-action show based on a video game of the same name. Deadline says that “The Last of Us story takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”
Deadline also unveiled information about the character Jesse. He is “a pillar of his community who puts everyone else’s needs before his own, sometimes at terrible cost.”
Deadline claimed that Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who are the co-creators, writers, and executive producers of the show, said that “Young is one of those rare actors who is immediately undeniable the moment you see him, We’re so lucky to have him, and we can’t wait for the audience to see Young shine in our show.”
This is the latest update in a slew of news for The Last of Us fandom. Other news comes in the form of mxdwn’s recent article regarding Pedro Pascal’s injury, which will not hinder the development of the show.
Mxdwn also released the news of another casting announcement, which is Kaitlyn Dever being cast as Abby for the upcoming season. Both Abby and Jesse are said to have critical roles in the continuation of the series.
