‘The L Word: Generation Q’ Gets A Premiere Date

Showtime’s new series, The L Word: Generation Q, is set to be an early holiday present, premiering at 10pm on December 8, 2019. The L Word: Generation Q is a sequel series to the groundbreaking LGBT+ show of the late 2000s, The L Word, which spawned several spinoffs, including The Real L Word and L Word Mississippi: Hate The Sin. The new show will revisit familiar characters such as Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), and Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig) as well as introduce a “new generation of self-possessed LGBTQIA+ characters – experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks, and success in Los Angeles.”

Beals, Hailey, and Moennig will co-executive produce The L Word: Generation Q in collaboration with series creator Ilene Chaiken (The Handmaid’s Tale, Empire). Marja-Lewis Ryan (6 Balloons, Four-Faced Liar) will also executive produce as well as serving as showrunner. Kristen Campo (The Killing, The Comedians) and Steph Green (Watchmen, The Man in the High Castle) will executive produce, with Green set to direct the pilot.

Newcomers to the show include Arienne Mandi (In The Vault), Sepideh Moafi (The Deuce), Leo Sheng (Adam), Jacqueline Toboni (Easy), and Rosanny Zayas (The Code). They are set to play Dani Nùñez, Gigi, Micah Lee, Sarah Finley, and Sophie Suarez respectively. Guest stars announced so far include Stephanie Allyne (One Mississippi), Fortune Feimster (The Mindy Project), Brian Michael (Queen Sugar), Latarsha Rose (Being Mary Jane), and Olivia Thirlby (Goliath).

Production for season one of The L Word: Generation Q is currently going on in Los Angeles. The premiere date was announced at the Television Critics Association press tour. Showtime has also released the premiere dates for season two of Kidding, season seven of Ray Donovan, and season ten of Shameless

The original series of The L Word can be streamed through Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Showtime subscriptions.
