The fourth season of Never Have I Ever premiered on Netflix on June 8th. Created by Mindy Kaling (Velma, The Sex Lives of College Girls), the show first made its debut in 2020. Now, three years later, the series comes to an end with the fourth and final season.
Never Have I Ever revolves around Devi Vishwakumar, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Turning Red, My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale), and her high school experience.
Throughout the series, she discovers who she is outside of her academic life. She grows into her cultural identity while also navigating grief from her father’s death, relationship issues, friendship drama, and more.
The final season focuses mostly on Devi’s college application process as she tries to get into her dream school: Princeton. This season also reveals who she ends up with romantically.
Throughout the series, her main love interests have been Ben Gross, played by Jaren Lewison (Tag, Away and Back), and Paxton Hall-Yoshida, played by Darren Barnet (Love Hard, The Summit of Gods). However, this season also introduces a completely new love interest for Devi named Ethan, played by Michael Cimino (Senior Year, Love, Victor).
Although Devi’s romantic life is a large plot point, this final season wraps up many other aspects of Devi’s life as well. According to Los Angeles Times, Ramakrishnan stated, “In terms of who she ends up with, eh, it’s not the point.”
In relation to the main love triangle between Devi, Ben, and Paxton, Ramakrishnan continued, “Believe it or not, I believe in the whole rest of her life she has coming outside of these two dudes.”
Other stars of the show include Poorna Jagannathan (Delhi Belly, The Night Of) as Nalini, Richa Moorjani (Hot Mess Holiday, Fargo) as Kamala, Lee Rodriguez (Grown-ish, Class of Lies) as Fabiola, Ramona Young (Santa Clarita Diet, Z Nation) as Eleanor, Benjamin Norris (Superstore, Up for Adoption) as Trent, and more.
According to Comicbook.com, the first day that the fourth season premiered on Netflix, it reached the top of the Netflix Top 10 T.V. Shows list. This means that it also surpassed other recently premiered shows, including Manifest and Arnold.
As Never Have I Ever secures the number one spot and concludes Devi’s high school experience, the series ends with a bang.
