The eighties are back and better than ever in the first teaser trailer for Masters of the Universe: Revelation at Netflix. The classic cartoon series reboot is picking up right where it left off, with part one of the first season arriving on the streamer July 23, via Entertainment Weekly.
The first trailer for Masters of the Universe: Revelation is a nostalgic trip back to over forty years ago when the series originally began. Jam-packed with heroes, villains, and magical creatures, this revival promises to be filled to the brim with epic battles. With the iconic eighties anthem “Holding Out For a Hero” sung by Bonnie Tyler and neon lettering accompanying the trailer, Revelation is bringing back everything fans loved about the original series.
All the beloved characters have returned, with the trailer previewing He-Man and Skeletor battling it out once more. It’s good versus evil, and none other than Mark Hamill (Star Wars) is voicing the notorious Skeletor. No stranger to voice work, especially when it comes to playing famous villains, Hamill voiced the Joker in the 90s cartoon The Batman: The Animated Series. He’s back with a vengeance in the Revelation trailer as Skeletor, giving particularly nasty cackles as he aims to destroy He-Man.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation is co-created and showrun by Kevin Smith (Clerks). He took to Twitter to announce the arrival of the first teaser, writing: “BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL! Here’s the teaser for our @MastersOfficial series, made by the geniuses at @powerhouseanim & @Mattel Television, premiering on @netflix JULY 23rd! Your old toys are exactly where you left ‘em, Kids – and we took really good care of them!”
Hamill re-tweeted Smith’s tweet by adding a few words of his own, celebrating the coming series in correlation to the release of the first teaser trailer. He wrote: “Thrilling to be part of this epic saga working with my pal @ThatKevinSmith & truly spectacular cast! Don’t miss MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE REVELATION premiering July 23rd on @netflix with yours truly as the gloriously undead & largely misunderstood SKELETOR.”

In good company, Hamill is playing opposite Chris Wood (Supergirl), who will be voicing He-Man. In addition, the cast is stacked with talent, featuring the voices of Susan Eisenberg (Justice League) as the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) as Evil-Lyn, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Teela, Stephen Root (Dodgeball) as Cringer, and Griffin Newman (The Tick) as Orko.
