As anticipation of the future of the iconic Marvel franchise continues to build up, a statement by one of The Defender’s stars has sparked fresh excitement by teasing that their journey may extend well beyond Daredevil: Born Again season three. Reported by Comicbook, the actor in question is Finn Jones (Game of Thrones, The Visitor), who portrayed Danny Rand (aka Iron Fist) across several of Marvel’s Netflix series.
According to Comicbook, Jones has answered fans at the last weekend’s Florida Supercon regarding if he would take another role within the MCU. “I’m Danny Rand until I die.” He had shared the stage alongside his fellow Defenders Mike Colter (Evil, Plane) andKrysten Ritter (Jessica Jones, Nightbooks), who will be joining him in the upcoming third season.
Another question that Jones was asked was which hero he wanted his character to share the scene going forward in which he replies.“We’ve seen Danny a lot in the kind of street-level New York world,” he said. “I think it would be kind of cool to see him go a bit more mystical, a bit more powerful, maybe fight Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) a little bit.”
With little information to go on, many fans have begun to theorize about the possible projects the actor could be involved in, such as ones centered around a single hero or a full Defenders reunion. Stated by Comicbook, regardless of what direction the new project will entail, fans who have long hoped for his return are happy to see his reentry into the MCU.
Whatever plan that the MCU has in store whether, a solo or team, one thing is becoming crystal clear: they are not finished from telling the stories of Hell’s Kitchen’s heroes. Both the first and second season of Daredevil: Born Again are available for audiences to stream on Disney+, while waiting on future news on the approaching season.
