The CW has just released a fresh trailer for its show Batwoman starring the new heir to the cape and cowl Javicia Leslie, according to Deadline. Leslie will be playing the headstrong and powerful Ryan Wilder. With several characters scrambling to find the missing Kate Kane (Ruby Rose, Orange Is The New Black), many are starting to question whether she is still alive. Check out the season two trailer below:
In the season finale of Batwoman season one, fans witnessed the complex plot points that Kate was grappling with. After a rage fueled and homicidal football legend broke out of Arkham, it was up to Kate to stop this psychopath and lock him up for good. Fans also experienced the hate Colonel Jacob Kane fosters for vigilante’s as he ordered his troops to open fire on Batwoman, not knowing it was his own daughter. With the militia known as The Crows after her and her nemesis Alice (Rachel Skarsten, Molly’s Game) plotting to steal a deadly kryptonite shard, fans can rest assured there will be more more thread to unravel when it comes to Kate’s story.
Considering this whirlwind of events, Leslie comes into the picture and mixes things up for the show even further with her new look and attitude for Batwoman. Season two will explore what exactly happened to Kate after the finale and how Alice’s plans come to fruition to bring down The Scarlet Knight. Fans will get to see a new concept of Batwoman’s Batmobile as well. Modeled after what looks to be a C7 Corvette, the new Batmobile is styled with a bat symbol on the hood of the car and a coat of midnight black paint.
Leslie released statements about taking up the part “Based on what we have seen, Leslie, who takes over the titular role from Ruby Rose, brings new, fresh take on Batwoman. During DC FanDome, Leslie, who is bisexual, said it is an honor to play a character that is just like her. She points out that it is not common to play a character that represents the community that she belongs to,” according to Deadline.
Batwoman season two will be releasing new episodes Sunday January 17th on The CW, stay tuned for what’s to come for our new member of the bat family Ryan Wilder. From the looks of the trailer, this next season is going to be packed with action.
