Antony Starr (The Boys, Banshee) was arrested Wednesday in Costa Blanca, Spain after getting into an altercation with a chef at a local bar. The actor was given 12 months in jail, a sentence that was quickly suspended after yesterday’s court hearing where he agreed to pay the victim $4,000. This agreement came after what ComicBook is calling a “quick trial”.
The actor was working on a Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) film when he then went to a local bar and then punched chef Bathuel Araujo. Araujo claimed that Starr struck him twice and broke a glass against his face. He also claims that Starr shouted “You don’t know who you’ve messed with, you don’t know who I am and what you’ve done… You’ve committed the mistake of your life and I’m going to look for you. I want to kill you.”
According to court documents, his drunkenness was a big factor in the judge’s leniency leading to his suspended sentence. He will avoid that jail time on the condition that he does not commit another crime in the next two years, and makes that $4,000 payment within 72 hours.
His arrest will have no effect on the new season of The Boys as it has already completed filming. That season will release on Amazon Prime on June 3, while the animated spinoff series, The Boys: Diabolical, premiered today on the service. Starr reprises his role as the sadistic superhero Homelander in that show.
