According to mxdwn, the final season of The Boys, expected to debut sometime in 2026, will have a treat in store for fans of its showrunner Eric Kripke’s (Gen V, Boogeyman) earlier work, Supernatural. Jensen Ackles (Ten Inch Hero, Dark Angel), Jared Padalecki (House of Wax, Cry Wolf), and Misha Collins (Girl, Interrupted, Gotham Knights) will reunite for the first time since 2020.
Deadline reports that the Soldier Boy actor recently teased the reunion. They also reported that Ackles spoke about him and his Supernatural co-stars’ close friendship, saying that they often meet up at least once a month. In reference to the upcoming reunion that has already been filmed, Ackles proclaimed, “It was weird. It was like inviting my friends over to somebody else’s house for dinner. I was like, ‘Listen, guys, don’t make me look bad. I got to stay here.’ They were amazing. I can’t wait to talk more about it because it was quite an experience.”
Speaking with Deadline, Padelecki recalls Kripke showing interest in working with him and him saying yes to his offer to work on the final season of The Boys. He adds that “We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today. I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever.”
Deadline also reveals that the Supernatural cast crossover is even deeper. Jeffery Dean Morgan, who played as the brothers’ father in the series, also played as Joe Kessler, who was in a Billy Butcher hallucination.
Deadline concludes that Kripke made an emotional farewell statement after the wrapping of the final season’s production. “It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude,” he stated in summary. “We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to write, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. You wait your whole career to have maybe two of those things, if you’re lucky. We got all of them.”
