According to ScreenRant, NBC teased The Blacklist‘s tenth and final season with a sneak peek of a new conflict with Raymond Reddington, played by James Spader (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Boston Legal). In this season, the roles will be reversed on Reddington and he will become the target.
The Blacklist, which premiered in 2013, was created by Jon Bokenkamp (Perfect Stranger, Taking Lives) and follows an intellectual and admiringly evasive criminal, Spader’s Reddington, who voluntarily surrenders himself to the FBI to become an informant in exchange for legal immunity. His only catch was to work alongside fresh-on-the-scene Agent Elizabeth Keen, played by Megan Boone (Accused, The Underground Railroad). The series was based around Reddington and Keen’s relationship and Raymond Reddington’s true identity, both of which have been additionally examined. Reddington’s identity still has no true confirmation, although it will be intriguing to see how much more information is disclosed in this final season, and whether Reddington survives.
According to Collider, in this highly anticipated final season, The Blacklist will focus on the infamous Blacklisters that Reddington and the FBI targeted seeking revenge on Reddington as his clandestine position as an FBI informant is facing divulgence.
“After 10 years, hundreds of ‘Blacklist’ cases, and more than 200 episodes produced, we’re honored to reach our conclusion,” showrunner and executive producer John Eisendrath (Alias, Alert: Missing Persons Unit) said in a statement via Bleeding Cool. “It’s been incredibly fun to create the strange, devious, and delightful Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force each week. We would like to thank everyone at NBC and Sony, our extraordinary crew who make the impossible happen every day, our endlessly inventive writers and producers, and our remarkable cast who brought life to these characters.”
Along with Spader will be Hisham Tawfiq (Jinn, About The People) portraying Dembe Zuma, Diego Klattenhoff (Pacific Rim, Mean Girls) portraying Donald Ressler, Harry Lennix (The Five Heartbeats, Ray) portraying Harold Cooper, reprising her role, Anya Banerjee (Speak to Me, Skin) portraying Siya Malik, and Meera Malik, portrayed by Parminder Nagra (Bend It Like Beckham, ER). Executive producers include John Fox (Game Night, Dolemite Is My Name) and John Davis (I, Robot, Game Night).
“We appreciate our dedicated fanbase who came along for this wonderful ride and are excited to share this final season with them,” said Eisendrath.
The Blacklist will make its final return on February 26, 2023, at 10 pm/9 pm CST on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
