‘The Birthday Boys’ Premiere Date Announced

IFC released that the Ben Stiller and Bob Odenkirk-produced sketch comedy series The Birthday Boys will premiere October 18, according to Indiewire.
Odenkirk is returning to his Mr. Show beginnings while awaiting confirmation of whether his Breaking Bad character, Saul Goodman, will get his own spin-off. Odenkirk not only writes for the series but will be appearing in every episode of the first season as the eighth member of the Birthday Boys.

The “Boys” consist of Jefferson Dutton, Dave Ferguson, Mike Hanford, Tim Kalpakis, Matt Kowalick, Mike Mitchell and Chris VanArtsdalen; all but one attended Ithaca College in New York. They formed in 2007 in Los Angeles after working together at the Upright Citizens Brigade, according to The Chicago Tribune.

“We’re happy to finally give Bob Odenkirk and Ben Stiller the platform for their big break,” The Birthday Boys said in a statement.

The Birthday Boys are funny fellows and I intend to learn all their names by the end of the first season!” Odenkirk added.

Debbie Liebling, Stuart Cornfeld, Mike Rosenstein and Dave Kneebone alongside Stiller and Odenkirk will also be executive producers. The show is co-directed by The Birthday Boys‘ Chris VanArtsdalen, Jefferson Dutton and Odenkirk, according to The Chicago Tribune.

The first season will have ten half-hour episodes coming out October 18 on IFC.
