

Prime Video has released the teaser trailer and first-look images for the drama series The Girlfriend. This highly anticipated series, starring Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon, Slow Horses) and Robin Wright (Forrest Gump, House of Cards), features six episodes and will be available only on Prime Video on September 10th in approximately 240 territories and countries around the globe.
According to an accompanying press release, The Girlfriend is based on the Michelle Frances (The Temp, The Playground) novel of the same name. The story follows Laura (Wright), who seems to have it all: a prosperous career, a loving husband, and dear son, Daniel. Her perfect life starts to come apart when Daniel brings home a girlfriend, Cherry (Cooke), who alters the course of everything. Following a nervous introduction, Laura is convinced that Cherry is hiding something, begging the question: Is Laura paranoid, or is Cherry a manipulative social climber?
Wright stars as Laura, Cooke as Cherry, Laurie Davidson (The Roadtrip, Will) as Daniel, Tanya Moodie (Motherland, Empire of Light) as Isabella, and Waleed Zuaiter (Omar, The Angel) as Howard. Additionally, Karen Henthorn (The Booze Cruise, The Listeners) will play Tracey, Leo Suter (I’ll Find You, Beecham House) as Nicholas, Shalom Brune-Franklin (The Tourist, Great Expectations) as Brigitte, Francesca Corney (The Buccaneers, Fistful of Vengeance) as Millie, and Anna Chancellor (What A Girl Wants, Tipping the Velvet) will play Lilith, Prime Video adds.
The Girlfriend is adapted for television by Gabbie Asher (Dogma, Personal Affairs) and Naomi Sheldon (Hi-Loe Joe, Red Dwarf), and episodes are written by Asher, Sheldon, Helen Kingston (The Carrier, Gun Dog), Ava Wong Davies (Industry, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), Smita Bhide (The Blue Tower, Another Planet), Polly Cavendish (The Hole), Marek Horn (Rivals, Breaking the Rules), Isis Davis (Killing Eve, Champion), and Matt Evans (A Soldier’s Heart, Shake, Rattle & Roll 9), Prime Video notes.
The press release states that the series is produced by Amazon MGM productions and Imaginarium Producti9ons. Executive Producers include Wright, John Zois (The Night House, Hotel Artemis), Frances, Will Tennant (Godzilla, The Ritual), Asher, Dave Clarke, and Phil Robertson (Breathe, Torchbearer), alongside producers Jonathan Cavendish (Breathe, Animal Farm) and Caroline Norris (Horrible Histories, Motherland).
