Taylor Schilling To Lead In NBC Drama Pilot For ‘What The Dead Know’ From Wolf Entertainment

According to Deadline, Taylor Schilling (The Lucky One, Orange Is the New Black) will be joining the cast of NBC’s crime drama procedural pilot What The Dead Know as lead on the series.  The series comes from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

As per Deadline, the series is written by Beth Rinehart (FBI: Most Wanted, Chicago Justice) and is based on former New York City medical examiner Barbara Butcher’s memoir What the Dead Know. What the Dead Know centers on highly intelligent, hyper-vigilant death Investigator Ava Ledger who is really good with dead bodies. It’s the living that give her trouble. The series follows Ava as she teams with the NYPD to solve their toughest cases.

According to Deadline, Rinehart executive produces with Wolf Entertainment’s Dick Wolf (On Call, Sins of the Truth), Tom Thayer (Cold Justice, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee), Peter Jankowski (When You’re Strange, Chicago Fire) and Anastasia Puglisi (FBI, FBI: Most Wanted). Kevin Plunkett (The Brand, ABC World News with Diane Sawyer), Rebecca McGill (Law & Order: Organized Crime, Law & Order) and Butcher co-executive produce. Fred Berner (Magic City, Vanya on 42nd Street) is the director and executive producer.

As per Deadline, Schilling is known for her Emmy-nominated role on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black. She recently was on the second season of Rian Johnson’s anthological Peacock series Poker Face. She also starred in an episode of Howard Gordon’s Fox anthology series Accused. Schilling also starred in Jason Katims’ Apple TV series Dear Edward opposite Connie Britton. She was also in an independent film titled Queen of Bones opposite Martin Freeman (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Miller’s Girl), Julia Butters (The Gray Man,Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Jacob Tremblay (Good Boys, The Toxic Avenger).

According to Deadline, What The Dead Know currently has no premiere date and has not announced any other members of the cast other than Schilling.
