According to Deadline, Tanzyn Crawford (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Tiny Beautiful Things) will be joining the upcoming Netflix live-action adaptation series of the popular video game franchise Assassin’s Creed. She joins previously cast leads Toby Wallace (The Royal Hotel, Boys in the Trees) and Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing, Dating Amber) and fellow series regulars Zachary Hart (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Master of the Air) and Laura Marcus (Death by Lightning, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping).
As per Deadline, the series is described as a high-octane thriller centered on a secret war between two shadowy factions. There is one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The same as the video game franchise, the series will follow characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.
According to Deadline, the game franchise follows the same trope as it is centered around an age-old conflict between the freedom-loving Assassins and the control-seeking Templars, played out across history through characters reliving ancestral memories in the Animus machine to find powerful artifacts.
As per Deadline, showrunners Roberto Patino (DMZ, Cut Bank) and David Wiener (Leonie, Holly) executive produce Assassin’s Creed alongside Gerard Guillemot (Werewolves Within, Rabbids Invasion Special: Mission to Mars), Margaret Boykin (Beyond Good & Evil, Riders Republic), Austin Dill (The Drop, They Came Together), Genevieve Jones (Mythic Quest, Max Rules) for Ubisoft Film & Television, and Matt O’Toole (Last Man Standing, Lost Junction).
According to Deadline, Crawford got her break as a main cast member on the 2023 Hulu limited series Tiny Beautiful Things, playing lead Kathryn Hahn’s daughter. She also did a guest arc on Apple TV’s Servant the same year. Crawford is repped by MCSM, Buchwald, 42 and Jackoway Austen.
As per Deadline, there is currently no confirmed release date yet for Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series. It is targeting a 2026 start of production in Italy, which serves as a setting for the series adaptation, with the exact time period unclear.
