‘Superman and Lois’ Reveals Season One Villain Thaddeus Killgrave

Showrunner Todd Helbing (Producer, Spartacus) has recently revealed that Thaddeus Killgrave will feature as a main villain for Superman and Lois in season one, according to ComicBook. As the last link to the Arrowverse the CW created back in 2012 with Stephen Amell (Casey Jones, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of The Shadows) fans have high hopes for Superman and Lois. The lethal Thaddeus Killgrave has not been cast yet but he is a scientist with a penitent for crafting deadly weapons, so fans are sure to see some new threats emerge for both Lois and Clark.

Helbing also commented on their approach for introducing villains into the show, reinforcing the concept that they want to be different than other iterations of Superman stories such as Smallville and also other Arrowverse shows such as The Flash. “We didn’t want to do freak-of-the-week [like Smallville], we didn’t necessarily want to do one villain, and we didn’t necessarily want to do what [The Flash showrunner] Eric Wallace is doing, where he has a graphic-novel approach. We kind of wanted to do our own thing, but the true north was really: How is the family reacting to what is going on around them? And what’s the true meaning of that?” Helbing stated according to ComicBook.

Thaddeus Killgrave doesn’t have a long history or a long list of appearances. His first appearance came in 1988 and he was created by John Byme. It will be interesting for fans to see where they take this mad scientist and what kind of obstacles Thaddeus will create for Clark. In the comics he is short in stature with a bull cut and operates out of metropolis. Thaddeus has also been involved with dealings with the Joker, selling him a nuclear weapon in past iterations so DC fans will have to keep their ears perked if Superman and Lois decides to drop any references.

Overall, Superman and Lois is gearing up to be a unique entry for the CW Arrowverse and DC fans have a lot to look forward to with new villains, new designs for Superman’s suit, and a new tone for the show with the introduction of Clark’s twin sons. As season one breaks down, audience will witness how Clark strives to protect the people he cares about most, no matter the cost.
