The deal comes after Benoist has started her own production company, Three Things Productions, through which she is expected to produce future projects with Warner. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Three Things Productions has hired Anonymous Content’s Sahar Kashi (creative executive, Home Before Dark) as vice president of the company.
Speaking about the deal with Benoist, Warners Executive Vice President of Development Clancy Collins White said, “For the last six years, we have been privileged to collaborate with Melissa Benoist as she entertained and inspired audiences around the world in the signature role of Supergirl. Everyone at Warner Bros. Television is extremely excited to continue our partnership with her as a producer. We look forward to working closely with Melissa and her team to develop new and compelling series that reflect her fearless and indomitable spirit”. (The Hollywood Reporter)
Supergirl‘s sixth and final season is set to air in fall 2021. A premiere date for the final season has not yet been set.
Outside of her superhero persona, Benoist is known for starring on Glee, which served as the star’s breakout role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner hopes the potential projects Benoist will produce and star in will showcase her talents as a vocalist.
