According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has officially given a series order for Suits: LA, a spinoff of the popular Suits series. While no release datre has been announced, the series could be prepping for a late 2024-25 release.
Suits: LA will star Stephen Amell (Heels, Arrow) as Ted Black, a former New York prosecuter who now runs a law firm in Los Angeles. According to the series longline, “His firm is at a crisis point, and to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives.”
Suits: LA does not feature any of the original series characters or settings, at least to start.
The series is also set to include Lex Scott Davis (The First Purge, Florida Man), Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead, Mad Men), and Brian Greenberg (Friends with Benefits, Prime).
The spin-off comes from the original Suits creator Aaron Korsh (Pearson, Suits). The series received breakout success on streaming last year. Following that success, Korsh and Universal Studio Groups UCP, began developing a spinoff. A pilot was ordered in February and shot this pilot in the spring.
Korsh executive produces with Doug Liman (Road House Edge of Tomorrow), Gene Klein (Impulse, The Recruit), and David Bartis (Edge of Tomorrow, Fair Game).The original Suits series currently holds a 91% critic score and an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. While the entire show is 9 seasons, many of the series main characters left the show for the eighth season, and the series wrapped up with its 9th season in 2019. Another spinoff Suits series following Gina Torres’ (Firefly, The Perfect Mind) Jessica Pearson, Pearson, ran for one season in 2019 before it got canceled.
