“Suits” Launches “Game of Thrones”-Inspired Ad Campaign

Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) understands the way the game is played.

That is the declaration on the latest poster for Suits’ third season, unveiled today by Entertainment Weekly. The image borrows heavily from the advertising for Game of Thrones, the background looking comparable to the HBO series’ Iron Throne—and the similarities are not merely coincidental.

Accompanying the poster is a forty-second promo for “Game of Suits”, featuring a world of “ambition, deception and betrayal.” The commercial heavily incorporates guest stars Conleth Hill and Michelle Fairley, who play Varys and the ill-fated Catelyn Stark on Game of Thrones, respectively. Focusing on the cutthroat environment of the Pearson Hardman law firm, the promo ends with a moment from Suits’ last season in which Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) declares, “I always pay my debts. I’m a Lannister.”

The clever advertising campaign has drawn appreciation from fans of both series, and is a great way of promoting Suits’ prominent guest stars. The upcoming season, which features Hill and Fairley in their roles as Edward Darby and Ava Hessington, begins July 16 at 10 PM on USA.
