Stranger Things has released the episode title of the first episode of the fifth and final season of the series. The title was released on Nov. 6th, known as Stranger Things Day and the anniversary of the first time Will Byers, one of the main characters played by Noah Schnapp (Abe, Waiting For Anya), went missing, via Deadline. Episode One of Season Five is titled “Chapter One: The Crawl.” The episode was written by The Duffer Brothers, the show’s creators.
Stranger Things Day was celebrated in theaters across the U.S. with special screenings of Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 2, according to Deadline. International Stranger Things Day celebrations allowed fans to enter free giveaways, receive photo ops, and exclusive merchandise inspired by the Netflix original series, via Deadline.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things has been highly anticipated since the cliffhanger from season four, where we see the season’s villain Vecna split Hawkins apart and bring The Upside Down to our world. The Duffer Brothers have promised to not add too many new characters to the final season, and keep the focus on the series’ main cast, according to Deadline.
Matt Duffer told IndieWire that they “just like shaking it up, so [they] shake it up by changing the plot or adding in new monster.” “We’re doing our best to resist [adding new characters] for season five. We’re trying not to do that so we can focus on the OG characters.” Maya Hawke (Do Revenge, Fear Street: Part 1 – 1994), who plays Robin Buckley in season three and four, has expressed that she wants her character to end season five with a “hero’s moment,” via Deadline.
“I’d love to die with honor, as any actor would. But I love the way that the Duffer Brothers love their actors,” Hawke tells Rolling Stone in an interview. “The reason that they write so beautifully for me and for everyone else is because they fall in love with their actors and their characters, and they don’t want to kill them. I think that’s a beautiful quality that they have, and I wouldn’t wish it away.”
The Duffer Brothers plan to expand on the world they have built, currently working on Stranger Things spin-offs which include stage play, via Deadline.
