Netflix’s groundbreaking series Stranger Things is officially halfway through production on their fifth and final season. Creators Ross and Matt Duffer, prominently known as the Duffer Brothers, (Wayward Pines, Stranger Things), shared a post on Instagram commemorating the occasion. See below.
In his most recent Instagram post, Ross shared a photo of the entire cast and crew on set to honor the halfway mark of season five’s production. Honoring the Stranger Things family, Duffer also shared a video of star Finn Wolfhard (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio), who portrays Mike Wheeler in the series, dropping a symbolic marble into a jar to celebrate the occasion. “Week 24. Happy halfway to the best cast and crew ever,” Duffer captioned the post.
Netflix’s hit series, Stranger Things, is officially ending with its fifth season, following a long hiatus from its fourth season which aired in 2022. While an exact release date has not been announced yet, Stranger Things‘ fifth season is expected to air on Netflix sometime in 2025. This is not the first time the hit science fiction horror series has gone on a longer-than-usual hiatus. Fans waited three years to see what would happen to their beloved band of characters in Hawkins, Indiana between the series’ third and fourth seasons.
All of the series’ main cast is expected to return to reprise their roles one last time, including Wolfhard, Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, The Plot Against America), who portrays Joyce Byers; David Harbour (Creature Commandos, Black Widow), who portrays Hawkins Police Chief Jim Hopper; Millie Bobby Brown (Enola Holmes, Damsel), who portrays Eleven; and actor and musician Joe Keery (Fargo, Free Guy), who portrays fan-favorite Steve Harrington.
As fans await the final season, consisting of eight feature-length episodes, the first four seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix.
