It seemed like it took forever to find out anything about season two of Stranger Things, and now that it’s been renewed (hallelujah), we’re already finding out bits and pieces about season two.
Not that anyone is complaining.
Today The Hollywood Reporter got the scoop on some details about three new characters who will be introduced in season two of Stranger Things. Executive producer Shawn Levy said, “There’s definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season, but absolutely servicing the core group first and foremost. Like the show itself, it’s multigenerational new characters and really, really intriguing ones.”
One of the new characters is named Max, a 13-year-old girl with a tomboy spirit. It sounds like she could fit in well with Mike and the rest of the gang. She is described as having a complicated past and a tense relationship with her stepbrother, which has led her to be very guarded and suspicious of other people. Max also apparently prefers a skateboard to a bicycle.
There is some speculation that the “Mad Max” in the Stranger Things teaser refers in some way to Max.
The second character being added to the new season is Billy, Max’s stepbrother. Billy is described as the new bad-boy in town who is rumored to have killed someone at his previous school. He likes to party, steal other people’s girlfriends, and to top it all off he drives a black Camaro. His relationship with his younger stepsister Max is strained because there is some truth to the tales of his violent nature.
The last character description we’ve got is a little more ambiguous than the first two. The third character to be introduced in season two is Roman. It’s unclear if Roman is male or female but will be an individual between the ages of 30 and 38. Roman is reported to have experienced a lot of tragedy in their life. He/she grew up homeless with their drug-addict mother and experienced loss at a young age. Whatever dark past Roman has drives him/her to seek revenge.
Season two will be released some time next year, which gives us plenty of time to re-watch season one.
