Life has become stranger than fiction according to Rock and Roll star and lead singer of Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks. Nicks is calling the pandemic in America a real life American Horror Story. She took to Twitter on August 11 to post lengthy statement imploring people to wear masks and stay inside via Entertainment Weekly.

Nicks guest-starred on the third Season of FX’s American Horror Story: Coven, playing herself as The White Witch. Performing various hit songs, Coven dramatized a rumor that flew during Nicks’s Rock and Roll career: that she was, in fact, a witch with magic powers. Nicks then reprised her role on the eighth Season American Horror Story: Apocalypse. In it, witches attempt to save the world after nuclear bombs have killed and destroyed most of the earth. Only the privileged and rich are able to survive the apocalypse, taking shelter in underground bunkers while the remaining survivors die above ground from radiation and starvation.
As more deaths are recorded from COVID-19 every day, Nicks has been very vocal about wearing masks and social distancing. Disturbed by Americans’ reactions to the coronavirus pandemic, Nicks stressed that masks are not political and are simply a matter of life and death. On her Twitter post, she recalled her time guest-starring on American Horror Story, writing: “This is like the season of American Horror Story I was in. It had turned into an apocalypse above ground. A serious “shelter in place”…You did not want to leave that safe house because only death awaited you above ground.” She went on to say the situation in the United States is a real life American Horror Story, and no longer just a television show. Season ten of American Horror Story was supposed to shoot this summer but was put on hold due to the pandemic.
