According to The Hollywood Reporter, Starz is working on a fourth spinoff for the hit drama series Power. The new series by the network is titled Origins, and it will be a prequel series. The new series will tell the origins of Ghost and Tommy who Omari Hardwick (To Live and Die and Live) and Joseph Sikora (The Shivering Truth) play in Power. This will be the fourth installment of the Power universe, which consists of Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force.
Kathryn Busby (Sex and the City), president of programming at Starz, said, “As we approach the 10-year anniversary of Power it is incredible to witness the enormous connection our fans have with the Power universe. We can’t wait to see how Origins will further evolve this dynamic franchise while bringing fresh, gripping, and expansive storytelling to our audience.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sascha Penn (Imagination Movers), known for being a showrunner and creator of Book III: Raising Kanan, will be executive producing for Origins. Power creators Courtney A. Kemp (Beauty and the Beast), Mark Canton (Den of Thieves), and Curtis Jackson (Get Rich or Die Tryin’) will also be executive producing the series.
The dramatic series Power follows the story of James ST. Patrick, also known as Ghost, who is drug dealer highly smooth and intelligent. Ghost is tired of the criminal world and branches out to pursue a legitimate business as a nightclub owner. The series premiered in 2014 and has six seasons and now four spinoffs. The series is also loosely based on executive producer Jackson’s life who is otherwise known as 50 Cent.
Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force are all available to stream on Hulu through a Starz subscription.
