Starz Gives Greenlight To New Thriller Series ‘The Hunting Wives’

According to Deadline, Starz has given the green light to new thriller series titled The Hunting Wives. This is the first series Starz has picked up since the WGA strike ended on September 27th. The Hunting Wives series is based on the novel of the same name by author May Cobbs (A Likeable Woman, My Summer Darlings).

As Deadline notes, the President of Original Programming for Starz Kathryn Busby spoke about the new series. She stated, “The Hunting Wives is a juicy, suspenseful and sultry thrill-ride.”

She continued, “We’re excited to continue to work with Rebecca and Erwin on this propulsive series that perfectly complements Starz’s slate of edgy, female-forward premium content.”

Cobbs will serve as an executive producer for the series along with Rebecca Cutter (Hightown, Gotham) and Erwin Stoff (13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, The Day the Earth Stood Still). Stoff is a part of 3 Arts Entertainment, which Lionsgate Television has a majority stake in.

Published in 2021, the novel The Hunting Wives revolves around the main character Sophie O’Neill who moves from Chicago to a small town in Texas. Bored with life, she meets Margot Banks and is introduced to a women-only shooting club called the Hunting Wives. From there, her life becomes filled with practices and parties. When a body is found in the Hunting Wives’ meeting place, she finds herself wrapped up in a murder investigation.

According to Variety, the announcement of The Hunting Wives comes soon after Starz announced that they were not moving forward with various series. Starz has decided to cancel the series Run the World, Heels, and Blindspotting.

Fans of the May Cobbs’ book The Hunting Wives can rejoice at the news that Starz has ordered for the television adaptation. As the series has just been given the greenlight, no additional news about casting or filming locations has been announced.
