‘Star-Crossed’ supernatural love story to come to the CW

The CW has released a trailer for their newest supernatural series, Star-Crossed, which will debut mid-season. The series will be set in a futuristic world, where an alien race descends upon Earth and eventually integrates with the human race. Aimee Teegarden and Matt Lanter will star as the human and alien falling in love.

According to the CW’s official website, Emery (played by Teegarden) and Roman (played by Lanter) met when an alien race, the Atrians, first crashed on Earth. They were both just six years old and developed an intense bond after Roman protected her from initial conflict between the Atrians and humans. After the conflict, authorities captured Roman which lead Emery to believe he was killed.

The trailer features a scene in which several teenagers from the alien race show up at school, where they are not exactly welcomed. This is the first assimilation after the Atrians have been kept in a camp, called the Sector, to keep them separated from humans. Roman is one of the group to show up, and immediately locks eyes with Emery. Although much time has passed, their bond has not weakened.

“[Emery and Roman’s] relationship is threatened by the small-mindedness of their respective communities and the political agendas of people in power. While the world around them rages with anger and prejudice, their bond becomes increasingly strong and increasingly dangerous,” reports the CW.

Star-Crossed will feature the classic Romeo & Juliet story, where two people find love in an impossible place, but fight for each other. This has been especially popular in recent supernatural television and movies, perhaps most notably in the Twilight movie series.

Aimee Teegarden has been seen on television in NBC’s Friday Night Lights, and Matt Lanter was most recently seen on the CW’s own 90210. Other actors to appear in Star-Crossed include Grey Damon, Natalie Hall, Malese Jow, Chelsea Gilligan and Greg Finley.
