In a surprising turn of events, Ashley Madekwe will not be returning for the third season of ABC’s Revenge.
The British actress played Ashley Davenport throughout the show’s first two seasons. An ambitious young woman who often found herself entangled in the Grayson family’s schemes, Ashley’s role shifted from party planning to political public relations over time.
According to Deadline, the departure is simply result of “storyline reasons.” Madekwe herself commented on the news, saying that “there is no longer a story left for [her] to tell,” but that she has loved her time on the series.
“My preference,” she wrote via Twitter, “is that Ashley Davenport dies in a blaze of glory. Preferable [sic] whilst wearing Valentino couture…or Chanel. I’m not fussy.”
Connor Paolo, another series regular on Revenge, also will not be back for the show’s third season.
