The world of Westeros has been known for its unexplained returns, surprising betrayals and legendary characters, with one example being of Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington (How to Train Your Dragon 2, Eternals) resurrected by the red witch after being stabbed by the men of the night watch. According to Comicbook, the third season of House of the Dragon introduced a shocking resurrection that could dramatically reshape the series’ endgame battle.
Reported by Comicbook, the scene in question showcased Aegon II, played by Tom Glynn-Carney (The King, Tolkien), wandering Westeros disfigured and trying to keep under the radar while accompanied by Larys Strong, played by Matthew Needham (Napoleon, Knightfall). Along the way, the duo came across the still body of Aegon’s dragon, Sunfyre, whom everyone assumed had died during the battle—a belief Aegon refused to accept. Later on, it was revealed that Sunfyre was in a dormant state to heal. When Aegon was in danger, the bond between rider and dragon gave Sunfyre the strength to reawaken.
This fateful reunion is a pivotal moment in the book Fire & Blood, which House of the Dragon enhanced by showing both characters injured, separated to heal, and ultimately finding strength when reunited, which will result in a major power shift. Stated by Comicbook, there has been numerous changes within the series narrative, which has generated many questions, such as as will Aegon be vigilante in his conquest to take vengeance on his brother or who will be the last dragon rider left standing?
With only one episode remaining in the season, the story’s final chapter remains shrouded in mystery. It is still unclear how this shocking twist will influence the fate of the characters, reshape the narrative’s endgame, or whether this unexpected development will ultimately alter the outcome of the series’ climactic conclusion.
