*Spoiler* Adar’s Fate In ‘The Rings of Power’ Season Two Explained By Series Director

*Spoiler*

Adar played by Sam Hazeldine (The War Below) demise in The Rings of Power season two was a pivotal moment throughout the series, leaving fans both shocked and satisfied. Viewers first saw the character back in the third episode of the first season, who was originally played by Joseph Mawle (The Hallow), who led an army of orcs through Middle-Earth.

In recent interviews with Screenrant, director Charlotte Brändström (The Disappearance) and cinematographer Alex Disenhof (Captive State) shed light on the creative decisions behind Adar’s dark fate within the second season. Being an important role within the series, Aldar was ultimately betrayed and killed by the orcs, who fell under the control of Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers (Medici).

Charlotte Brändström: We actually mirrored something that we had done in the first season. There is a scene in episode 6, at the end of episode 6, there is a confrontation between Adar and Galadriel in the barn. It’s been quite a while, but we remember that, right? [Chuckles] That day, we went Dutch, completely Dutch, the whole scene. So, Alex saying, “It would be cool to just redo the same thing and to go Dutch again.”

Alex Disenhof: Yeah, it’s kind of a remembering how their relationship is, and it’s off balance. We knew that it was the final moment between them.

Charlotte Brändström: We knew he was going to die in that moment.

Alex Disenhof: Yeah, kind of a full-circle moment between them.

Adar’s role might not be over as viewers think, as the world of Middle-Earth is filled with magic and anything is possible. According to Screenrant, McKay and Payne have created a five season plan for the acclaimed fantasy series, with season three not being confirmed yet. The series will surely continue on expanding the world of Middle-Earth and further delve into the attributes of the characters. The entire two season of The Rings of Power are available to stream on Prime Video.
