According to Deadline 9-1-1: Lone Star bows out after five seasons, the 9-1-1 franchise continues its expansion with a new spinoff set in Nashville. 9-1-1: Nashville has received a straight-to-series order from ABC and will premiere during the 2025-26 season. The series is written and executive produced by 9-1-1 co-creators Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) and Tim Minear (American Crime Story), along with Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani (The Brave), and 9-1-1 star Angela Bassett (How Stella Got Her Groove Back, American Horror Story).
The idea for a second 9-1-1 spinoff emerged shortly after 9-1-1: Lone Star premiered in 2020. The project began to gain momentum after 9-1-1 moved to ABC in 2023, with Deadline citing that multiple locations were explored, including early talks of Las Vegas. By last fall, the focus shifted to Hawaii, but as Deadline explained, the high filming costs there became a major hurdle, leading the team to consider other cities.
Ultimately, Nashville was chosen as the spinoff’s setting, in part due to the tax incentives the city offers, according to Deadline. Known for its vibrant music scene, Nashville hasn’t been as widely used as a TV series backdrop compared to cities like Atlanta or Memphis. However, its role in ABC’s Nashville has made the city familiar to TV audiences, making it a promising option for the 9-1-1 brand.
The Nashville-set spinoff will join 9-1-1 on ABC, which is reportedly in talks for a Season nine renewal, Deadline added. The franchise continues to thrive, with its expansion reinforcing its staying power. Bassett, who stars in the Los Angeles-based series, remains a key part of the franchise’s continued success.
9-1-1: Nashville marks a new chapter for the franchise, bringing fresh energy and the unique backdrop of the South. With a seasoned creative team behind it, the spinoff is expected to build on the 9-1-1 legacy, offering audiences another gripping, high-stakes drama.
