Fans of raunchy superhero stories rejoice. Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible has potentially huge news for the production and voice cast of season two. In a recent Prime Video Instagram reel, actor Steven Yuen (Sorry to Bother You) can be seen in a recording studio speaking rather vaguely about chopping the clip itself in such a way as to clue the viewer into his involvement in the second season.
In a Discussing Film interview with actor J.K. Simmons (Spiderman), he felt that continuing work on the second season was “imminent,” stating the following:
“Again, always wary of spoilers, but I think I’m allowed to say that we’re going back to work very soon in the recording booth,” Simmons said. “Now, the lag between us doing our first recordings and the animation being completed is obviously many months and probably more than a year, I would guess. But, yes, Invincible is getting to work in earnest and season two is imminent, I will say. There’s a nice vague term.”
Invincible tells a superhero story gone wrong from the very first episode. Based on a comic by Robert Kirkman, its animated art style is juxtaposed with scenes of brutal violence and acts of cruelty, which ends up making for an entertaining story. Steven Yuen voices the titular character Invincible in the series, while J.K. Simmons voices Omniman.
A trailer and new cast list for the upcoming second season have not yet been posted.
