According to Comicbook, Sophie Nélisse (The Book Thief, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged), star of Showtime’s Yellowjacket, gives an update on the much anticipated third season. Nélisse who plays young Shauna, spoke with Comicbook over the third installment of the series as well as the bonus episode.
When asked about the production of the series, Nélisse said, “Yeah, we start in like a month. Yeah, we will go back to Vancouver in a month. I have my apartment there. We haven’t read any scripts. I don’t know anything. I wish I could tell you spoilers. I don’t have any.”
When asked about the bonus episode and if she has seen it, she responded, “No. I haven’t been able to see it. We weren’t there when they were shooting and we were all back home. So I don’t know anything that happened. I mean, I read the script. It’s a great script. It’s super cool. But I haven’t seen it. I wish they would have shown us a special little screening, but no, we don’t have any.”
Created by Ashley Lyle (Narcos: Mexico) and Bart Nickerson (Dispatches from Elsewhere) the psychological drama Yellowjackets follows the story of a girl’s high school soccer team that survived a plane crash and then attempted to survive in the vast Ontario wilderness. The series features a dual timeline narrative that shows the characters as both high schoolers and adults. After the crash, the girls deal with many hardships such as, trying to survive as well as dealing with cannibalistic clans. On the other side of the coin, their adult counterparts 25 years later tell the gruesome truth about their survival.
According to Comicbook, the series’ third installment is not expected to return until 2025. This is partly due to the WGA’s writers strike of 2023, which delayed the series and many others. The series will have five seasons to conclude the dramatic horror story.
All current episodes of Yellowjackets are available to stream on Showtime and Paramount+.
