Brian Grazer and Kurt Sutter will be the executive producers of the project.
According to The Wrap, the new series called The Bastard Executioner has received a pilot order from FX. The project tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edwards III’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war. The knight vows to lay down his sword, but when violence finds him again, he has to pick the bloodiest sword of all.
“I love the network. I love the world. I love the blood,” said Sutter as. He will be the writer of the series and he will exec. produce alongside Grazer, Fox 21 and FX Productions.
Kurt Sutter is expected to start working on The Bastard Executioner after the upcoming seventh season (and the last one) of Sons of Anarchy will end. So, the production for the pilot episode will begin late next year.
John Landgraf, the CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions said that “Now he has conceived a deep, provocative and historically precise narrative journey into our Medieval past– and I have no doubt The Bastard Executioner will be another remarkably original and gripping series. We’re also thrilled to be in business with Brian Grazer who is one of the most gifted film and television producers in the business. FX and FXP have had great fortune with our studio partner Fox 21 and we’re happy to extend our relationship with Dana Walden, Gary Newman and Bert Salke.”
