‘Solar Opposites’ Producer Opens Up About Tiffany Haddish’s Expanded role on the new season

According to Comicbook, the producer of Hulu’s favorite alien family the Solar Opposites gives them an exclusive on Tiffany Haddish’s (Tuca & Bertie, Haunted Mansion) role being expanded on the current new season. Haddish plays the role of Aisha the ship’s AI computer who has been seen in prior seasons. Season four showcased more of Aisha as the AI unit had more screen time and even an episode dedicated to her backstory. Series producer Sydney Ryan (Rick and Morty, Community) spoke to Comicbook about the newly expanded role.

Ryan said, “Aisha is such a big part of the Solar’s lives that it just made sense to involve her character more this season. Tiffany Haddish does an incredible and hilarious job of bringing her to life. The writers wanted to see what would happen if we focused a whole story on this character who usually exists just as a talking orb in the ship. Mike McMahan (Axe Cop) talked about it being like this book he likes called The Ship Who Sang, which was about a spaceship’s computer that always falls in love with its captains. Josh Bycel (The Big Show Show) wrote that episode and it came out so smart and sweet, it’s a highlight of the season for me – like our own little Before Sunrise story but with a blue floating orb. There’s a great balance in it between comedy and melancholy- it’s the kind of thing that really only makes sense on Solar I guess!”

According to Comicbook, the character of Aisha gets an entire romantic comedy episode where she falls in love with a human that she happens to meet online. The season also features more different stories that have been seen throughout the series. From the continuation of The Wall episodes to even seeing more of the Silver Cops.

The animated sitcom follows the story of an alien family that must take refuge on Earth as they try to make it their new home. The cast for the series includes Haddish, Thomas Middleditch (The Final Girls), Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs), Mary Mack (High on Life), Sagan McMahan (Warped Kart Racers), Kari Wahlgren (DC Super Hero Girls), and many more.

All current seasons of the series are available to stream on Hulu.
