TNT’s upcoming season of Snowpiercer will premiere on Monday, January 24 at 9 pm ET/PT. As the release date approaches, an official trailer for the new season is available, via WarnerMedia press release. The trailer unveils a possible theme for the new season that there is hope for civilization as the earth begins to warm.
Snowpiercer is a post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller, set in the time of 2026. The television series is based on the 2013 movie of the same name. It follows the passengers of the Snowpiercer, a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe carrying the remnants of humanity seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland.
The trailer begins with the static train surrounded by endless snow. Then, a voice says that “a brighter future awaits, beyond the train.” It then shows us clips of warmer places, indicating that the passengers are getting closer to retrieving civilization. However, they won’t easily achieve their goals without battling harsh challenges. They need to make the right choices, deal with their peers, and even sacrifice some to survive. Conflicts, fear, happiness, and hope will continue to circulate the characters throughout this season.
Season three will pick up from the end of season two. Andre Layton and Ruth Wardell, two of the major characters who were banished to Big Alice’s compost car, planned to take back Snowpiercer. Layton and Ruth made it back to Snowpiercer with the help of Javier and Alexandra. They reunited with their supporters. Snowpiercer’s head is separated from the remaining 1,023 cars as Josie destroyed the Aquarium car.
The upcoming season stars Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind, House of Sand and Fog), Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Sean Bean (Sharpe), Rowan Blanchard (Girl Meets World), Alison Wright (The Americans), Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha), and more. The show is produced by Tomorrow Studios, along with CJ Entertainment. ITV Studios handles international distribution.
