Last weeks episode of Saturday Night Live had host Adam Driver and musical guest Kanye West. To recap, West had decided to make an unplanned “Pro Trump” speech that didn’t make it to air. However, actor Chris Rock recorded and uploaded the feed to his Instagram story.

Pete Davidson spoke about Kanye’s unplanned speech in a hilarious fashion on a Weekend Update segment in this past weekends episode. Davidson is a 24-year-old comedian and actor who joined the SNL cast back in 2014. He is known for his wit and funny, charming demeanor.
In the segment, referring to West claiming to be his “real” self, boasting that he had not taken what many presumed to be his psychiatric medication, Davidson said, “There’s no shame in the medicine game. I’m on them. It’s great!” He ended with saying, “Being mentally ill is not an excuse to act like a jackass,” which received tremendous applause. You can check out the full clip below.
Since Davidson first spoke out about becoming sober, he has proved himself wholly unafraid to speak openly about his mental health on live national television. The Weekend Update segments are where he found his voice. Every so often he comes on as a guest anchor and delivers a three-minute take on the given topic of the night. His “rants” as he likes to call them have become some of the most popular SNL clips on YouTube. “He has real support in the audience,” says executive producer Lorne Michaels. “People love him.”
West has not yet spoken out about Davidson’s segment. He has, in fact, deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts, opting out of social media again.
